The Mount Si Choir Program will be hosting Wildcat Idol over the next few weeks. Wildcat Idol is a judged singing competition, similar to the popular TV show “American Idol,” and is open to all MSHS students.

To audition for Wildcat Idol, students have to first sign up through a link that can be found on the Mount Si Choir program’s website. The deadline to sign up to audition was Jan. 16  at 11:59pm.

Preliminary auditions will then take place Friday Jan. 18 where students will be selected to perform in Round 1.

From there, students in Round 1 will perform live in front of an audience, and be selected by judges and the audience to move onto Round 2 and, eventually, Round 3.

Round 1 will take place Friday Jan. 25 starting at 7 p.m. and Round 2 and 3 will be continued on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

All students and staff are encouraged to come out to the Wildcat Idol performances to cheer on and vote for their fellow classmates and friends. Tickets for Wildcat Idol are $5 and include five voting tickets.

There will also be a bake sale including pizza, baked goods and water for purchasing. All of the money raised through Wildcat Idol goes directly back to the choir program to help fund travel costs for choir competitions and classroom resources.

The winner of Wildcat Idol will get to perform a song at a future assembly and will have the chance to be a judge at the following year’s competition.

“It was one of the highlights of my year, and even if I didn’t win, it still would have been!,” said last year’s winner, Jillian Smith. “Performing is the most scariest thing a person can do, but it’s also one of the coolest feelings. This experience made me a braver, more confident human, and inspired me to take more risks, be my own person, make decisions for myself and to keep making the music that I love!”
